Age is no barrier for SDX artist, David Cochrane

Age is just a number, as proved by artist John Donald Cochrane, whose paintings light up Buchanan Galleries newest retail arrival – The Scottish Design Exchange.

At 92, some would understand that it’s time to take life easier, however the artist is an exception to the rule. John Donald Cochrane (he likes to be called Donald) describes his need to keep producing works as a disease. “I just want to paint,” he says with utter conviction. “I might slow down and take a rest in 10 years, or,” he adds with a smile, “maybe I won’t.”

Donald’s paintings were not always sought after, however after being introduced to Lynzi Leroy, founder of the Scottish Design Exchange, Donald’s paintings now attract a great deal of attention - and you too can discover what all the fuss is about, here within the centre.

Painting alone within his small sheltered home, Donald produces inspirational work bringing to life a combination of Scottish landscapes and abstract works, perfect as a stunning gift or as a treat to yourself.

To learn more of Donald’s story visit the Scottish Design Exchange website or drop by the store located on the second floor within Buchanan Galleries, where Donald’s work is available to buy, alongside a whole host of other independent artists and designers.
